FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 25th, 2010, Kuala Lumpur - Growing in momentum and relevance to the current Malaysian climate, the 3rd Eco Film Festival will be held at the Faculty of Economics and Administration, University Malaya this October 11th-17th 2010. Organized by EcoKnights, a non-governmental environmental organization, the Festival is an annual attraction for visitors who are drawn to award-winning environmental films, organic and healthy food and beverages, green products and services, unplugged performances and a wide range of environment-themed workshops, demonstrations and activities – suitable for all ages and races. This year, the Festival is expecting at least 4000 visitors to the fairground lawn and with about 50 green exhibitors participating in the exhibition. There will be two theatres dedicated to the premier screening of award-winning environmental films such as Garbage Dreams, Beyond the Pole, One Degree Matters and more. Smaller theatres are utilized for recycled arts and crafts workshop for children. A special section of the fairground, called ecolicious will tempt to fool the taste buds of the visitors with their delicious vegetarian and organic food like vegan sushi, "mutton" rendang, asam laksa, and nasi lemak, just to name a few. Head to GreenScapes and be exposed to a broad range of local and international green products and services from green bank accounts from CIMB Islamic and certified organic tee shirts, to energy efficient appliances and eco friendly accessories and beauty products. For those who much prefer an audio-sensory experience, head to Power Down and enjoy the unplugged performances by local acts and celebrities. Catch Tree Theatre Groups' performance of the wayang kulit which tells a very compelling green story, led by 17 year old Jez Ibrahim. "With the rising concern for the environment, Malaysians today are very keen and interested to learn more about sustainable living. Having said this, we are still lacking behind other countries in putting our knowledge into practice", said Founder and President of EcoKnights, Yasmin Rasyid. "With all the activities, workshops, films and entertainment line up during the festival, I hope that the festival goers will take home some key environmental messages and act on it immediately", added Yasmin. The organizers highly recommend visitors to carpool or utilize public transportation to the fairground. Special festival buses will be arranged to ferry visitors to and from the festival site from the Universiti LRT station where a Festival volunteer will greet the visitors and brief them on what to expect from the festival and also the bus schedules. Among the partners who are in the Festival bandwagon are DiGi, the Star, NRE (Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment), biohome, Spin, WildAsia and University Malaya (UM Cares).
