You are invited to:
A Green Drinks Special Event: The Global Premiere of 'The Age of Stupid'
Tuesday, September 22nd; 20:00
Grand Millennium Hotel (Ballroom, 2nd Floor)
160, Jalan Bukit Bintang
Kuala Lumpur
Entrance: FREE
The Age of Stupid is the new documentary-drama-animation hybrid movie from Director Franny Armstong (McLibel) and Producer John Battsek (One Day in September). Oscar-nominated Pete Postlethwaite (In the Name of the Father, The Usual Suspects, Brassed Off) stars as a man living in 2055, looking back at the present age we are in... and our inaction to do anything substantial to slow or stop climate change.
The film was released to rave reviews (see below) in UK cinemas on 20 March 2009, and September 22nd marks the Global Premiere when it goes out simultaneously to 63 countries around the world.
This is THE ONLY SCREENING ORGANISED IN MALAYSIA for the global premiere (http://www.ageofstupid.net/screenings/country/Malaysia ).
In addition to the film, there will be a webcast from New York (technology permitting) before and after the film. Watch VIPs arrive in Manhattan by bike, rickshaw, electric car and sailing boat, before braving the paparazzi on the green carpet (made from recycled soda bottles). Following the screening of film, there will be a further 40 minute event featuring Kofi Annan, Gillian Anderson, Mary Robinson, the film's director Franny Armstrong, the star of the film Pete Postlethwaite and other leading thinkers, celebrities and political figures from around the world. There will be live music from Radiohead’s Thom Yorke and satellite links to scientists working in the Indonesian Rainforest and at the melting glaciers in the Himalayas. A group of children will speak from the very room in Copenhagen in which all our futures will be decided at the UN climate summit in December.
Space is limited so PLEASE COME EARLY! In addition to making the venue available free of charge, the Grand Millennium has kindly agreed to serve drinks at below 'normal hotel' prices!
Apologies for the timing of the event. I realise it is during Raya holidays... but the date was chosen to be on the eve of The UN General Assembly's Climate Session.
Apologies also for the late notice. It was a little difficult putting this together... so please go mad on facebook, twitter, and send this to any mailing list you are a part of. If you have one, please paste the trailer or any of the banners and posters on your blog or website (see http://www.ageofstupid.net/resources) .

A few reviews:
'The Age Of Stupid is the most powerful, well-researched and emotional films that I have seen in recent memory'.
- Ed Begby Jnr, Actor
'I thought the Age of Stupid was an incredibly powerful account of the effects of climate change, the urgency, of climate change and the reasons we must act as quickly as possible'.
- Ed Miliband, UK Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change
'Fantastic. Knows spots off An Inconvenient Truth'
- The Ecologist Magazine
'I was nodding to myself all the way through, thinking... how can I reduce my flights? Can I install a wind turbine at home? It is definitely going to change my life. It was so powerful and so moving I wanted it to go on for another hour'
- Gillian Anderson, Actress
'I hate this film. I felt as if I was watching all my own excuses for not doing anything about climate change stripped away from me. And it's tender and funny and wise as well.
- William Nicholson, Oscar-nominated writer of 'The Gladiator'
'Every single person should be forcibly made to watch this film!'
- Ken Livingstone, former Mayor of London
