STEP 2 OF 7 -- Greenpeace 7 step energy efficiency campaign
Hi KarLye Tam!
You already know this, but it bears repeating: If we don’t all get radically smarter in our use of electricity, we’ll never make enough green energy by 2050 to keep the world going and fight the worst effects of climate change. It just won't work. What's worse, most people don’t even know the importance of energy efficiency, let alone how they can help.
But there's hope. Everybody wants a green and peaceful future for their children and the planet. When somebody they trust shows them how to make a difference -- and how to make politicians and companies do the right thing -- people act.
This week, as Step 2 of 7, we want you to invite at least seven of your friends, colleagues and relatives to join the campaign. There's a sample message below you can copy and paste into a new email, and a picture of a funny video we made to promote the campaign. Some people respond better to humour, others want you to say in your own words what this Greenpeace campaign is about. Please send it along right away!
Thanks!
Alex, Andrew, Tanja, Eoin and everyone at Greenpeace International.

Hi,
Last week I joined this 7-step climate change campaign. We are starting with lightbulbs, but it's about energy efficiency generally. You should join:

Half of the solution to stopping climate change is simply saving the power we use. Yes, sure, we need to replace dirty energy with the green stuff (wind, solar, etc.)... But we also need to get rid of technologies and practices which waste power. That's why I'm writing you about Greenpeace's international energy efficiency campaign. This campaign is about people like us helping to outlaw products that waste energy. Every week, for seven weeks, Greenpeace sends out an email with instructions how to campaign effectively for energy efficiency.
Every ton of carbon dioxide pumped into the atmosphere, every coal burning power plant built and every energy wasting lightbulb installed makes it harder for us to stop climate change. Each one is one more thing we'll need to undo. Better to get it right the first time.
Let's start an energy revolution!
I hope you'll join me today: Click here to sign up (http://greenpeace.org/7steps)
